Reviews for A Long Vernal Season

Poor Severus!  I know how he feels.  I was sick in late August with an upper respiratory infection and the side effects to the antibiotic and special cough syrup were pretty bad that I had to go to the emergency room for seven hours a few days after starting to take them.  But after getting done with the antibiotic, I felt a whole lot better and glad that the infection went away so it was well worth the discomfort of the side effects.  So if the potion helps Severus to get better he'll be glad he took it in the end.

It's really nice of Hagrid to sit with Severus and try to make him feel better.  After their talk, Severus seemed to perk up some so maybe it would be beneficial for Severus to consider Hagrid a friend.

That's all for now, onto the next chapter.  Bye!

Author's Response: Yep, the side-effects for Severus are making him feel worse than he did before he knew he was ill and in such danger of getting so much sicker! Poor guy!

Hagrid has a big heart, and Severus did feel cheered by him keeping him company for a while.

Thanks for the review!

I felt nauseated right along with him.  You made him so vulnerable, I wanted to hug him.  Except that would make him feel worse.

He shouldn't be so afraid that he'll lose everything, except that he always comes so close to losing everything.

Author's Response: He doesn't believe that anything good can be given him without it being immediately snatched away, sadly. I'm sure a hug, as much as he might need one, would just embarrass him and make him uncomfortable at this point in the story. But he would need it!

Oh dear, this treatment sounds downright nasty. Well, one wouldn't expect the treatment for such a nasty problem to be neither simple nor easy, but still, poor Severus...
Part of the bad part for him would supposedly be being mothered, won't it? ;o) Of course, deep down he wants it, might even hope for it, but showing such a need? Never!
The meeting with Hagrid and his advice fits in really well, I like this part very much.

Author's Response: Thank you!

Yes, Severus does have conflicted feelings about needing care, being cared for, being reliant on others, and so on. So this experience might be good for him! ;D

I appreciate your reviews!

Great couple chapters. Love Gareth and Severus at the park. The interaction between Poppy and Severus is perfect in tone. I'm looking forward to seeing Minerva and Albus again, I miss them. Thank you for the quick updating.

I bit random, I konw. But I'm tired today for some reason. ;-)

Truly

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed the interactions. And random can be just fine!

Albus and Minerva will be here! Never fear! Some Albus and Severus, some Severus and Minerva, and some Severus, Albus, and Minerva, so we get to see how his relationships with them progress. In fact, in the next chapter, we see Minerva and Severus and then later we see Albus and Severus.

Thanks for reviewing despite being tired and feeling random! ;-D

very good.  Hagrid got a sense about "creatures" like Snape.  I wish there had been more with Hermione!

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for reviewing!

Poor Severus. It really sucks to be sick. I had to laugh, though, when he said he was going to die and Poppy said "someday but not from nausea." tee hee. Sounds like a woman who's seen more than one sick person in her day. lol

I also loved the game they played in naming the animals. I think she is good for Snape and has been all these years. She's seen him at his best and worst and he's alive b/c of her.

I'm loving this story and glad you're posting it here.

Author's Response: Yes, Poppy has been good for him over the years, you're right about that.

Glad you're loving the story! Thanks for the review!

Oh that scene with Hagrid was just wonderful. It is also wonderful that you update so fast.

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked that scene with Hagrid.

This afternoon, I'm doing the final revision of the next chapter so that I can upload it later this week, so you should get another quick update again.

Thanks for reviewing!

I wonder why he feels so prickly with Poppy? Does he really not trust her to not laugh behind his back or is it just that he dislikes the feeling of being at her mercy when he's ill? I had to laugh at his reaction when he thought she actually left after he told her to go away. He really is contrary.

The scene between him and Hagrid gave me a little lump in my throat. For all his defensiveness, it seems that nobody dislikes Severus as much as he dislikes himself.

Author's Response: You got the answer to your question in your final line. He is just defensive with most everyone, and particularly about things he's uncomfortable with himself. He doesn't think that she would necessarily laugh at him behind his back, but he doesn't want word to get around and have other people laughing. And he really is contrary! lol

I'm glad you liked the little scene with him and Hagrid. His bed was more "comfterble" after talking with him.

Thanks!

Riposto's response: He's fortunate that his friends and colleagues understand him so well. I'm not sure I could keep trying with someone who made such an effort to repel overtures of friendship, even if I did understand the reasons why. My feelings would be hurt.

Author's Response: I'm sure he has hurt people's feelings over the years, and he is lucky that some of them haven't given up on him! Poppy's also used to dealing with his moodiness, especially when he's ill, but her feelings can be hurt, too. As Severus settles in over the course of the year, he'll have opportunities to relearn -- or learn for the first time -- certain social skills. He'll make progress. :-)
