In his youth, he’d striven to be a great wizard. His interest wasn’t in being a good son, a good man. It was almost too much to hope he wouldn’t be remembered solely as a murderer. Could he do this? Could he be a husband, a good one? Could he hope to be a good parent some day? Hermione surely would be. His new wife rested in his arms, her expression that of a thoroughly loved woman.
