“Maybe I should rub it down with oil?”
“I told you that you were wasting your time even pulling it out.”
“I like it, Severus. It’s yours. It’s special."
“Hermione, special or not, it simply won’t work.”
“Why not? Isn’t it hard enough?” She tested the theory with a tap of her finger.
“It’s old, no longer in top form, and it’s too small.”
“It looks standard to me.”
“It’s two inches below standard,” he answered irritably.
Yanking it from his wife’s grasp, Severus stated, “I won’t have our son using a sub-standard cauldron on his first day of school.”
A/Ns: Although Brits use the metric system, I used "inches" instead of "centimeters" purposely to continue the suggestiveness of the piece. It's my first real drabble. I hope you like it.
