After the events in the Department of Mysteries, Hermione finds it hard to cope and receives help from someone unexpected. When a friendship of a sort develops, will it survive the events of the Lightning-Struck Tower? Will an ancient ritual help the Light win the war or will it destroy everything? An HG/SS romance. Not DH compliant.

I am an almost 30 year old single mom of five year old precocious Mini-Shal and our cat called 'Katze' (cat in English, lol). In between full-time jobs at a temping agency, babysitters getting Izzy to and from Kindergarten and lots family and financial problems and housework of course, I am once again working on fanfics after a long hiatus to keep sane.
Though I have been writing fanfiction for various fandoms for the past fourteen years none of them made it on the Net because of a series of misfortunes involving six more or less functioning computers.
I haven't been a Harry Potter fan either until March 2006 when after watching Goblet of Fire I was so confused I just had to read the books. My best friend HoneyB was very mean throughout and didn't want to tell me any spoilers thus getting her revenge when I didn't want to listen to her enthusing about Harry Potter all those years. ;)
The HG/SS pairing struck me as very sick at first because as hot as Alan Rickman is, he is over sixty years old! But resistance was futile and I was won over by one of the silliest and most funny parodies I have read so far which was incidently my first HP fanfic and is sadly enough only available in German. Though for anyone fluent in that language I can heartily recommend to Google Coldmirror and her parody of the first movie 'HP und ein Stein'.
So since then I have been happily writing away whenever I have the time and get seriously annoyed when yet another plot bunny bites me in the leg and doesn't want to fit into my current story! %)

Oh no, the chapters have run out! I love her dress style, perhaps she should keep it that way!
Now I can relate to the whole fencing thing. Fencing is like ballroom dancing, you have to get your footwork right, your posture, your top-line, timing and movement. Talk about multi-tasking, it's a wonder men can do either pastime!
i'm sorry rl is so difficult right now but i am enjoying the story very much. i'm very curious about this ritual and i look forward to further updates. thank you for sharing your gift in spite of the things life is throwing at you.

Fencing? I thought he was going to unlease her on the restricted section to break the vow with NM! 
When dumb and dumber are treating her like a leper I always wonder why Hermione doesnt just leave? She could go home, or have a sleep over with Tonks or really any other order member's house. I just dont get why it would be necessary for her to stay there and put up with annoying boys. Hey the 3rd attic door wouldnt happen to be Severus' bedroom would it? hot sexxors already ?
I cannot suss out the movie quotes because I have not seen those movies. If its not a romantic comedy or period drama I am not interested!! I am very curious about that attic door tho!

I love this story and was overjoyed to see the update notice on WIKTT.I just read all 12 chapters again, and cannot wait for more. Thank you for writing this unique and addictive fic.

Glad to you have come back to writing "Wicked Game". You portray Hermione's deterioration in an interesting way. Dressing like Luna, bursting into tears, attempting to hold a conversation with a ficus. Not exactly the Hermione we're used to.I'm looking forward to seeing the workings of the ritual.
I just reread the entire story to date and am loving it. I'm glad you're returning to it, and look forward to the next chapter, however long it takes!
Good chapter - she is coming unglued - something has to be done - I do not know what the ritual will do but she needs something desperately.
Interesting chapter and the fencing was interesting .. I cannot wait to see where you take this and how this turns into a romance. Very interesting with a ritual - cannot wait to read more.
Interesting chapter but confusing too - the ritual and all I am not sure what it all means so I need to read more - good chapter though.
