my catalyst into the world of hp fanfic was the ignominious death of severus snape by snakebite in dh.  grrrrr.  he deserved better, and i set off on a mission to find it!   i appreciate and admire the vast and limitless creativity of all of the wonderful writers on this site and in this fandom.

accordingly, for me it's mostly about snape: ss/le, ss/hg, ss/rl are my favorite ships.  i especially like happy endings for those who did not get them at the hands of jkr.

This was a really nice little oneshot -- I have to say that I adore Severus as a poet, though!

Response from kittylefish (Author of Before and After)

i'm glad you like poet!severus. i do, too. the story actually started with that first poem, and kind of ran off from there. i was also strongly inspired by alan rickman reciting poetry on youtube. it was like he was murmuring in my ear. *shivers*

Oh, my, kitty! Perhaps I ought to pay more attention to ratings! Everything was so sweet, oh, the tears, the stricken look on her face... and then! THEN! Grabbing hair, nails scraping on flesh, ROWR!

These two are like this! Passionate people who talk with their bodies sometimes better than their astounding intellects.

Oh, my. It's a little warm in here!

Author's Response: honestly, that was kind of how i felt when i wrote it. i had no idea they were going to go and do that! but - i do think that is severus's preferred method of 'explaining.' ; ) thanks for the review!

Having read/reviewed one of your other stories earlier today, you piqued my interest enough to check out some of your other work (as often happens when I like what I read!)  I'm so glad I did - this is fantastic!  You are quite an incredible writer and I love the combination of fluent description along with the poetry/prose.  As a fan of the latter (mostly what I myself write & not for everyone) I was so pleased to see how you used it.This is quite an achievement in that you managed to get the erotic, sensual side of SS across at the same time as the soft, romantic one.  Excellent stuff!  You will no doubt find me reviewing more of your stuff now as I gradually work my way through it!! :-)

Response from kittylefish (Author of Before and After)

thank you so much for this lovely review!  i'm delighted that you are interested enough to read more of my writing.  this story actually began as the poem, during the phase when my muse kept insisting on poetry.  then, when i kept insisting that i needed a happy ending, the rest of the story happened.

Whew! Good thing the poem continued on the otherside of the parchment or I would have thought he was sucidal! Its good to have him married off to Hermione :D

Response from kittylefish (Author of Before and After)

this story started as that poem, and then when i thought, "but where is his redemption?" the rest of it was born.  i'm glad you liked it.  thanks so much for stopping by and checking out some of my stories, and for the pretty stars you've bestowed upon me along the way.  :D

A lesson to us all, always look at both sides.
