Secrets and Lies

A/N: written for smurfgirlz for the hp_con envy. Prompt: How about Luna and Ron, in the study, with a broom, some explanations and lots of relief. And if you can toss in some SS/HG I'll give major squees! :D Many thanks to pennfanna for the beta!

“I never knew that you were such a good actor.”

Ron jumped about six feet from his hiding place in Hermione and Snape’s new study. I don’t care how much he’s changed, he’s still Snape.

“I also didn’t know you could think belligerently. That’s quite a talent.”

“Luna, what are you doing here?”

“I brought your broom. I took it from Harry before he could break it. I told him I needed it to sweep the Nargles from the corners of the house.”

Ron smiled. “I thought Nargles only congregated near Mistletoe.”

Luna’s smile could have brightened up the Great Hall. “You listen to me?”

“You always have something interesting to say, Luna, even if I don’t understand you. But since no one else does either, I don’t feel bad about it.”

“Why did you throw that tantrum outside, Ronald?”

“Everyone was expecting me to. Hermione and Snape? Of course they’re perfect for each other! Both of them are too smart for their own good. She and I are far better as friends, but everyone was expecting us to get together. Why? I mean, I don’t get it. So, just to make everyone think everything is right with their world, I pitched a fit.”

Luna giggled. “That is such a relief. I was hoping I hadn’t misread you so completely.”

Ron looked at her askance. “What do you mean, Luna?”

“Just this!” she said, as she plopped into his lap and proceeded to give him the snog of his life.

“I told you there was an odd gleam in his eye, Severus.” Hermione told her new husband as they walked away from the door of the study where they had overheard everything.

“I still maintain that it was indigestion.”
