Variety Challenge first runner up. Hermione Granger is given a Time-Turner and instructions to use it. Only, using a Time-Turner can be a little tricky if not used correctly: a mistake made in counting or a slip of fingers can make the user jump irregularly and thus she could accidentally alter her time line. And when such an accident happens, Severus Snape uses Hermione’s Time-Turner in order to fix a horrific wrong. However, it’s his younger self that becomes the one who must ensure that history is not altered.

I love to write. A dreamer, a creator and filled with wonder, imagination and life. Sometimes I get lost in the other worlds I've read and in some I create. It's all good, I’m in good company.
“Imagination does not become great until human beings, given the courage and the strength, use it to create.”― Maria Montessori
“Our imagination flies -- we are its shadow on the earth.”― Vladimir Nabokov
“Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions.”― Albert Einstein
“Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were, but without it we go nowhere.” ― Carl Sagan
Reviews for Consequences of Meddling with Time
Could there have been a bigger surprise for Hermione than to find Professor Snape waiting for her in the old classroom she spent so much time in with his teenage self? I was afraid that he was going to be much harder on her than what he was. Still, when he asked her if she had hoped that they might remain friends upon her return, I was so sure he would berate her, but throughout the entire time he managed to soften his approach to her with only a small harshness here and there.
When they were in the Headmaster's office discussing what Hermione would do as she waited out this overlap, I was so glad that she caught what Severus had said about it taking up to nineteen days for the Time Turner to cool down this time. She will in time figure out that young Severus had made her stay an entire week longer. I love it when incongruities become evident and Hermione gets to give her intellect a workout.
Hestia was a wonderful hostess to the young witch, and showed her many places she might not have become aware of if Dumbledore hadn't arranged for her to stay there. When she went back to Hogwarts and saw Harry and Ron, I thought for a minute she was going to say something that would give the game away, but she covered her remarks well. However, in Professor Lupin's class she almost did say too much. I wonder if he suspects that she had spent time in the past when he was a student at Hogwarts himself. Whatever he may have suspected, it all worked out in the end... and she did get to have her say about his being friends with Sirius Black.
My favorite part of this chapter is when Professor Snape asks her to come to his office at the end of the day and told her how he expected her to behave in Potions class. When she gave him the thank you gift she had gotten for him, I was pleased to see him taken off guard. His reaction to the personalized Potions journal was almost his undoing, but at lest he decided to keep the gifts. When Hermione thought he was going to decline the presents, she reached out to take it back and their fingers touched for the briefest of moments, and he thanked her for her token of gratitude.
When he gave her detention for helping Neville in class– for the third time– I thought, well, at least she will get to spend some time with him and maybe it will be worth scrubbing dirty cauldrons. And she could have scrubbed dirty ingredient jars if she so chose. But Severus had given her a choice between scrubbing the jars or helping him brew the Wolfsbane Potion. Glory Of Glories! Hermione Granger is going to be spending several nights a week with her Professor brewing and if Poppy didn't need in potions for the Infirmary she would be able to stay in the lab with him and study and revise!!!!!
Best line: "Oh, how he'd missed this girl." Marvelous! Wonderful! More than I could have hoped for! All of the above!
"However, I expect you to follow directions without idle chatter and revise quietly so I may grade my papers. Is that understood?”
“Yes, sir, perfectly.”
This is a decidedly lovely chapter, Bea, and just what I needed after the yuk-of-a-day I had today. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for this spirit lifting tale!Hugs you, Beth

It did surprise her, although, he wasn’t as harsh as he could have been, that’s for sure.
Yep, she did catch that! Which will come up later on!
Hestia is a sweet lady. I made her a contemporary of Severus, for the contrast, but yes, she treated Hermione like a friend. And she did get to see places that are not in canon.
Hermione was so happy to see the guys she almost blew it, but caught herself in time, although, she did confuse them for a second. And in Lupin’s class, after class, she started to blurt. At least Lupin didn’t catch it.
Yes, once again she gave him gifts just for the sake of giving him one and it floored him, left him dumb for a second. I’m sure he was reminded of the spoon. The detention, well he did tell her to stop hissing directions to Neville, because Snape wants Neville to learn to pay attention and learn to follow directions. He never intended for her to scrub jars! That was a choice? Ruse. He wanted his assistant back. LoLThank you for the fun review of the chapter, Beth. As always, enjoyable to read what you think.
I had a bad night but I got home and saw that this was updated and it made my night that much better. Thanks!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh, barbied, I'm sorry you were having a bad night! I'm flattered that my chapter lifted your spirits. That is really quite a compliment. Hugs~Thank you for the review, doll. Hopefully you'll have a great rest of the week.
He really would like to remain her friend. She knows he would like to remain her friend. He knows she knows. But don't anyone say it out loud! :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
He would like to be able to keep her at a distance, but he missed her company, and her brewing assistance. lol yes, she knows that he liked brewing with her. Things will get complicated soon, though.Thank you very much for the review, sunny.
There are no words eloquent enough to express how much I am in love with this tale. I love time-turner stories and this one by far tops the list. I particularly enjoy the relationship past Snape and Hermione are developing; a strong foundation of friendship does a future, perhaps, romantic relationship make. Great Job :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
That is so sweet of you. I'm deeply flattered by the compliment. Yes, there is a foundation started, and it will flex and grow, fall apart and mend... you know these two! It's never easy. lol Thank you very much for the review.
Oh, he's trying so hard to distance himself, but he just can't help it. How cute. She really surprised him with the gifts and I'm glad she thought to get them for him.I am a little disappointed that she broke her word and helped Neville. And I'm wondering where the whole werewolf thing is going...I know what happened in the book, but what will happen in your story?Looking forward to more. Thanks for the good read.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, he is. Nope, he can't. Yes, she shocked him speechless. It wasn't so much that she broke her word, as in giving him suggestions that are not in his posted directions, just 'reminders' of when to do things, but what she doesn't understand is that she's not allowing Neville to learn. Hmmm, Lupin... you'll see.Thank you for the review, I hope you like where I'm taking this. Hugs~
This was a fantastic chapter. I loved that Hermione didn't quit know how to engage Severus and that Severus really deep down missed his friend. Can't wait for the next chapter.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Yes, they are both trying to come to grips with the situations. lolThank you very much for the review,

Wow! After her gifts his behavior did a 180. I didn't expect that, after his cold facade in the beginning. But I'm very glad he is warming up to her. He needs to just give her a hug already! But that would be out-of-character. Perhaps she could bestow the hug and he could reluctantly and dispassionately particiapte.Just musing here. It's your story and you're doing a wonderful job. :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, there was a bit of change of heart. Severus a affectinate type, we have a way to go, and some growing up to do, before he's comfortable with that. lolI'm flattered that you are enjoying this. I hope you like where my muse is taking this. Thank you very much for the review,

Oh - you wonderful lady! What a thing for Severus to do. Provide her with detention so that she could stay with him in a manner that they had shared in the past. Surely he must be feeling some afterafects of their friendship? Even if he had managed to cope, her sudden reappearance must have caused some reevaluation of his memories. I hope they can work out some kind of friendship at least. Truffles to you, Bea. Thanks for the story - Sara
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I get virtual truffles!! the nonfattening kind! Squeeeeee!Yes, he's a lsy one. Oh, comon you know he is! and he tried so had to push her away, too! Oh, Sara, I have plans, bit do I have plans!!Thank you for the review, doll. Hugs~
Brilliant. They are back to working together again :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Of curse, he couldn't jsut let it go, not after those gifts. Once again she gave him something simply to do so - and it struk him dumb! lolThank you for the review, Kitty.
Very Slytherin of him but I wouldn't have expected any less from him. Now they can continue to spend time together and maintain appearances. I'd kiss him if I could. Maybe tonight...
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh, yes, very sly. lol We couldn't see through that at all! *snerk* Snapely dreams when you sleep, doll. Thank you very much for the review.
Wow, so believably written! Yay that they're spending time together and that he appreciates her gift instead of returning it to her, I think in a way it would have devestated her.... Can't wait to see what comes next!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you,
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
. That's so sweet of you. Once again she gave him a gift simply because she wanted to, and it struck him dumb. There was no way he was going to give it back, he stopped her from taking it away from him, didn't he? I hope you like what I have planned. Thank you for the review. Hugs~
yehey! they're spending time together! together! together! *does happy dance* i wonder what your next arch will be?
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yep, they are and will. Oh you know, Pettigrew. The Triwizard Tournament, Umbridge (tee heehe) and a few more things up my sleeve. I dont' mean to rehash the books and will TRY not to - just some behind the scenes scenes and some off the Harry-fliter stuff. Did you want specifics? lolThank you very much for the review, doll.
you are an awesome story teller... the anticipation of what will happen when she finally comes back to meet older severus snape has been building for so long and yet i find myself enjoy the journey of their growing friendship along the way. It's a treat!thankyou
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Oh, sweetie, that is such a nice thing to say. Thank you very much. More growth, a few setbacks, a little consipiracy, and some detentions... you'll see. Thank you so much for the review,
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)

So he's not quite as indifferent as he wanted her to believe. So does she have a crush on him? If so that little sister remark had to hurt. How many chapters are you planning? I find that I'm getting as attached to this story as I am to your other ones. I can't wait to see how yu decide to play all of this out in the future.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Nope, he's not as indifferent as he wants to be. lolHermione might have, but he's comments did crush that hope. However... Originally, this was only goign to be nine, then it was only goign to be 17 and then I was going to end it at 19... only my muse is having too much fun with it's growing!! I keep telling him "one chapter per year! on the return timeline(that we are in) but he's laughing at me! Ebil muse. So I can't tell you! However, (and me and my muse are still negotiating) I'm not going to rehash the books, but do behind the scenes scenes, (expect for the Shack scene in PoA...) so far.
and a few deviations that will not change canon too much (in the Harry POV) but might in the HermionePOV of how things.. did you really wanna know?Thank you for the sweet compliment, and I hope you enjoy the rest. Thank you for the review, too.
How hard that must be! She's so young, of course he can't have her thinking that they can be buddy-buddy. But you can tell he'd like that by some of his reactions. Rather heartbreaking... but hopeful. :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Yes, that's the thing. She's so young, and he has to keep his authroity, but wants her around... But she will grow up!Thank you for the review, debunk. Hugs~
Response from debjunk (Reviewer)
Seriously can't wait for that! I bet he can't either. :)
I guess he missed her presence.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
He sure did. Thank you for the review, blue. Hugs~
i love the way their relationship is growing. wonderful update. thanks and mucho smoochies
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. Yep, they have grown close these last few weeks. Hugs, Kimjo~
Next chapter, please!! I'm wondering if Hermione will go back in time again and what will be adult Snape's reaction when he encounters Hermione this time.....I'm loving this fic! Really nice work.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much. I'm glad that you are enjoying this fic. I am working on updating my stories, honestly.
lovely chapter. I really enjoyed reading it.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you very much.
I can't believe I forgot to leave a review for this chapter. I have too much going on... *shakes head*
The more time Severus and Hermione spend together, the more things seem to become interwoven. Like a wheel inside a wheel inside a wheel. She has told him that he had brewed the liniment she used to ease his back pain, and now he knows that Remus Lupin is the DADA professor in her time line.
When Severus nearly melted that cauldron I had to chuckle. Even the best make a mistake along the way once in a while when they are devising a new or improved potion. Oh yeah, I just thought of something else Hermione let slip: She had mentioned that raw, sour Gruinard goat milk would balance the more pungent ingredients in the potion he was trying to make:
"In Potions. My professor mentioned it when he lectured us on the use of secretions in potions, so I looked it up."
I'm glad that he is teaching Hermione something about offensive and defensive spells and how she must be nimble of mind as well as body if she were ever attacked. Little did they know when they first started practicing that she would need to know these things before too much longer.
I wonder how much, if any, the future will be changed because Hermione has let a few things slip in her conversations with Severus? Maybe a little, or maybe a lot?
This is a really nifty chapter you've got here!Beth
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I would have forgiven you, Beth.
Yes, small loops happening in bigger loops. She tells him something that he will tell her later is only a small snag, sort of. Yes, he knows about Lupin, but canon there weren’t a lot of options.
I just thought that when one is experimenting, in cooking and in chemistry things go wrong, get burnt, blow up – and Severus is experimenting.
He might have suspected that Potter and Black might be out there, and a little defensive training never hurt anyone.
Yes, there will be subtle and not so subtle changes in what comes… But I don’t want to give anything away, yet.
Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
Yikes, that was close. Way too many times. I want this story to have a happy ending, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that means. She can't really stay in this time nor can they really hook up in the real timeline while she is a third year. It is sad when she has to leave and I think it gets harder each itme the longer she is there. Oh, I hope it all works out!
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
LOL yes, this was a harrowing day. Lots of excitment. No, unfortunately, she cannot stay in his time, she must go back. So I hope you enjoy the rest of the story as well. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
i have always had a bit of a problem with the murauders turning into nice guys. generally, bullies (and let's face it that's what they were) don't turn into swell, upstanding citizens. I agree with hermione! wonderful update. i cried along with her as she harvested the heart and i laughed at her elimination problem. too bad she didn't agree with my sweetie that it's a handy thing to have on a picnic!! thanks and mucho smoochies
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I don't think that they became 'nice guys' but they were fighting on Dumbledore's side. He used them as he did anyone esle on in his Order. Sirius didn't gorw up to be much of a role modle, after all. Although Remus did, but I didn't see him as a bully so much as a ref. I'm glad that you liked this chapter. Thank you for the review.
Ok, you are doing a great job with this story, but man am I confused. That happens with time turner fics. I try to avoid them but always get sucked into reading them anyway. If I just enjoy it and try not to analyze I just might make it out alive :)
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
You're not lost, it is confusing. If you read my list of jumps in my other reviews (two of them) for this chapter that will help - a lot! I have all the jumps and time-parallels spelled out. I would warn you to do this for chapter 9 as well. Chapter 9 answers a lot of questions, but opens up new ones. Hope this helps.Thank you for reading and for the review and pretty stars.
Oh, dear. This is a new spin on the time turner thing. I don't think he really had any choice but to go back. Can't wait to see the fallout from his travels, hopefully it is minimal. She certainly didn't have very good luck navigating. I hope he fares better. On to chapter two...
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
Thank you. Nope, he really didn't. She does biff it, that's for sure. lolI hope you enjoy the rest of the story. Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
Oh, what a fast paced and intense chapter.I laughed about the pee incident, was nearly moved to tears by the death of the unicorn foal and the harvesting, and was cheering for Hermione and Severus during the fight.I really am curious about the impact her actions in the past will have on the future.
Response from beaweasley2 (Author of Consequences of Meddling with Time)
I'm glad that you enjoyed this one. Yes, I jamed a lot in, but you had exactly the reactions I was after. As for the impact - you'll find out soon enough!Thank you for the review and the pretty stars.
