For him to speak so suddenly after so long a silence, and to speak of loneliness, I see his is trying to dissuade her from spending her time with him.  I believe he considers himself a lost cause, and doesn't want to get used to her company if she is only going to ultimately go and never return.  If I were her, I would have cried, too.

Just found your story tonight.  I DO hope your updates will come thick and fast, despite RL troubles and Uni complications, because I'm not sure what I'll do till I read the next installment of this wonderfully developing love story.  Perfectly balanced between fluff and angst, and with the peculiar brand of oneryness and independence that both of them possess!  I adore your story, and am eagerly awaiting more!

Very much like another reader, I've just read this entire thing in one sitting.   This is actually about the MOST believeable SS / HG I've ever read - no torrid passions or mad snogging - just two very lonely, very intelligent, and very determined people discovering how very much they LIKE each other and very very carefully allowing the other one closer. Excellent !!  I also very much like the purity of the writing style - like a perfect Japanese ink drawing.
