MMM... it's not so straight forward as getting all the answers... Severus and Hermione have conversations (and sex, damn them) without us being there sometimes! So he may explain his absence to Her but not to us! Thanks for reviewing!

mm. I did draw on some personal experience for this chapter. Living with someone with depression is like grief, you do grieve for the person who is no longer there, and you miss them. And then if you're lucky, they come back!

Three years, hmm? Where has he been all that time, will we get to find out? Liked the awakening sequence and how greatly his returning affected them both. Hermione's going from tears to giggling; part relief at his return, part shock... very nice. Looking forward to chapter three!

I know you said it was an escaped one-shot, but I think it deserves some follow-up. Nicely written, I had a lump in my throat as I read the end... Even if this is destined to forever stand alone (I hope not), it's a lovely poignant vignette.

If I understand what has occurred, Hermione teaches Potions after Severus is Killed by Nagini but his body is never found; leaving some to believe he is alive somewhere. Hermione teaches potions and therefore the lab is spotless, but she doesn't live in his old chambers which accounts for the dusty couch. Hermione has some small hope that he is not dead and is waiting for him to show himself to someone who loves him like herself. She watches his old house but never sees a sign of him. What is this hope the drives her to hang on to his memory and wait for him to reemerge
