I choose to believe that a bezoar might work if it was administered within a very short span of time since being bitten - so this might be why it worked for Severus Snape, but not for Arthur Weasley...

Very clever and brief. And now, please don't shoot me, but... a bezoar couldn't work. In book 5 Arthur Weasley was poisoned by the same snake, and they had to find an antidote. If a bezoar worked, they'd have used one. This just occurred to me and makes me sad, because now almost all the "Snape Lived!" fics are going to bother me :/
